I studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Cardiff and did my postgraduate training with BICC. I then joined Hoare Lea as I felt that my current company was too regimented. I didn't really understand the role of consulting engineers but Hoare Lea's people appealed to me and over the next 20 years I rose through the ranks to Managing Partner of the Bristol office.

My current position involves everything and anything but is mainly focussed on people and business management. One of my career highlights was developing Orange as a client but overall I really enjoy building services consultancy because of the variety, unpredictability and spontaneity of the work involved.
