After studying Building Engineering at Bath University I emigrated to South Africa working as a mechanical engineer on projects which included some of the largest retail schemes in Southern Africa. Following my return to the UK, I joined Hoare Lea in 1992 as an Executive Engineer. We opened the Leeds office in 1993, of which I'm now Managing Partner.

I joined Hoare Lea for its reputation and career opportunities. I continue to be motivated by the excellent people I work with and opportunities for leading edge design, such as 'Innovate' at Thorpe Park, with the highest BREEAM rating for a UK office.
