I was always good at maths and sciences and so engineering seemed to be a logical choice of career. I originally chose to go to Bath University to study structural engineering but when I was there I immediately found the environmental subjects more interesting.
I first worked for Hoare Lea as a placement and joined Hoare Lea permanently when I graduated in 1981. I have never actually had a job interview.
I have now been at Hoare Lea for over 25 years and have never considered leaving. I still get thrown new challenges every day. As Managing Partner now I am less able to be involved in as many projects as I was but I am always on the look out for new interesting projects.
When I look around Birmingham at the projects I have been involved with I am proud to have helped change the landscape there.
