Pendleton Gateway Centre wins Civic Trust Award 2010

The new Pendleton Gateway Health Centre in Salford has won a commendation in the North West Region Civic Trust Awards 2010. The £17 million building is the largest of the current phase of Mast LIFT schemes and was a joint venture by Salford Primary Care Trust and Salford City Council.

Pendleton Gateway offers a broad range of health services, together with community and council facilities, and separate adult and children’s libraries. The layout has excellent signage and colour contrast, with the reception and central atrium maximising daylight.

Working for Laing O’Rourke Construction, Hoare Lea acted as the mechanical and electrical engineers on the project. Hoare Lea also provided environmental modelling services and NEAT (NHS Environmental Assessment Tool) Assessment.

The Civic Trust Awards is one of the oldest built environment award schemes in Europe. The Awards recognise the best in the built environment, from architecture to planning, townscape to infrastructure and reward projects that make a difference to local people and their communities.
