JCB Academy wins BCSE Award

The £22 million pound JCB Academy has been awarded a BCSE (British Council for School Environments) award for 'Excellence in Design for Teaching and Learning'.

Hoare Lea acted as MEP consulting engineers and also provided specialist Acoustic and BREEAM Assessor services for the development.

The academy specialises in teaching 14 to 19-year-olds wishing to follow a career in engineering or business.

The project involved the restoration of a Grade II Listed Mill Building dating from 1781, with notable features including an Archimedes Screw turbine to generate part of the centre’s electricity requirements.
