Hoare Lea wins at the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2011

Hoare Lea won the ‘Integrated Project Team of the Year’ category at the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2011. The awards ceremony took place at Grosvenor House, London on 9 February 2011.

The award was presented to Hoare Lea for its work at Canolfan Rheidol (Ceredigion County Council’s offices) and was accepted by Richard Dalley, Associate, Hoare Lea, and David Taylor, Ceredigion Council Project Manager.

Canolfan Rheidol is a 7,273sqm (gross) office building that accommodates up to 475 staff in a primarily open plan office space. The design was developed to an environmentally driven brief, with Hoare Lea undertaking mechanical, electrical and public health design services, together with acoustic and refrigeration duties. The judges’ said that the team ‘showed a wide range of involvement from professionals, including contractors, suppliers and facilities managers.’

Hoare Lea was also shortlisted in three categories: ‘Refurbishment Project of the Year’ for Highbury Square; ‘New Build Project of the Year’ for The Scarlet; and ‘Building Services Consultancy of the Year’.

Ian Durbin, Partner, Hoare Lea, commented: ‘Winning the ‘Integrated Project Team’ award recognises our dual role as consulting engineers. At Canolfan Rheidol our people provided first-class low carbon engineering advice, while working closely with the client, the team and the contractor to deliver the project in a truly integrated manner. Congratulations to everyone involved.’
