Hoare Lea moves to new Plymouth office

Hoare Lea’s Plymouth office has moved to new premises at Mills Bakery, Royal William Yard. The office provides a base for 36 engineers, support staff and management personnel.

Hoare Lea has maintained an office in Plymouth since 1951 and until recently was located in the city centre, where it held a lease at St Andrews Court from 1982. The decision to move to Mills Bakery was prompted by the need for more space and the opportunity to occupy prestigious offices with improved facilities more suited to an international firm of consulting engineers.

Mills Bakery is located in Royal William Yard, a former Royal Naval victualling yard built between 1825 and 1835. The area has become a highly sought-after location following major redevelopment and regeneration by Urban Splash. Royal William Yard provides an array of amenities including retail and waterside restaurants, bars and galleries. The Grade 1 listed Mills Bakery building offers modern workspace, good communication links and a professional working environment. In addition the building has excellent parking and bicycle storage facilities, with showers in the building for the convenience of those who cycle to work or like to take a lunchtime jog.

Hoare Lea’s high-specification, 5,500 sq ft office provides a flexible and comfortable environment for staff. It comprises open-plan workspace, two meeting rooms, cellular offices, a breakout and kitchen area and an on-site facility for secure archiving and storage.

Jerry Barnes, Managing Partner for Hoare Lea, Plymouth, explains:
‘We are incredibly enthusiastic about our move to Royal William Yard. The site offers a vibrant waterfront location, while the Mills Bakery building provides excellent commercial accommodation, with a balance between historic features and contemporary design. The new office will undoubtedly improve the working environment for our staff and the service and facilities we can offer to our clients.’
