Keith Horsley - Associate
Bristol Office
While studying Building Services Engineering at Bath University, I spent a six-month industrial placement in Hoare Lea's Bristol office. This led to a full-time position after I graduated.
As one of the top firms in the industry, Hoare Lea provides the chance to work on projects of all sizes across all sectors, and to work with some of the country's pre-eminent architects and developers. We directly influence the energy consumption of buildings and so our role is becoming more important in helping to mitigate climate change.
There's a good atmosphere in the office, and a good social scene too, with regular events ranging from five-a-side football to curry evenings.
Career progression is clear - most of the Partners started within the Firm as graduate engineers. Within a few years of starting as a graduate, I progressed to the position of executive engineer, which meant I was responsible for running a number of projects in the office, hotel, education and residential sectors.
