Leeds is great - it's very mixed both culturally and age wise - which makes for a vibrant exciting city with something for everyone.
1. Leeds has some excellent restaurants. The Sous le Nez en Ville has a great atmosphere, top food and a wine list renowned further a field than Yorkshire. The food is not at all French but modern style traditional.
2. Sometimes you can't beat a good old Yorkshire pub like The Original Oak. This has a huge beer garden, barbeques throughout the summer and is a great place to catch up with the sport. There are quite a few pubs involved in CAMRA campaign for real ale. To get to know the local pubs you can always take part in an Otley Run - a pub crawl that takes in up to 40 pubs!
3. As for clubs Leeds has it all: clubs for star-spotting, such as Majestyk, places for large groups, and for intimate nights such as the Living Room. There are also huge dance clubs like Gatecrasher discotheque, babycream, Oceana and Halo which is set in a converted church with a DJ on the altar. You can also find all the usual names such as Tiger Tiger, All Bar One, Bar Risa, Vodka Revolution, Sports Café and Walkabout.
4. Leeds is an attractive city - the majority of modern companies are housed in either new build glass constructions (often on the banks of the River Aire) or in beautiful sandstone listed buildings. The city centre is under constant redevelopment with around ½ million apartments being built, often with amazing views of the river.
5. For sports enthusiasts Headingley Cricket Ground is home to Yorkshire County Cricket, while Headingley Carnegie stadium is home to the hugely popular Leeds Rhinos Rugby League club and Leeds Tykes Rugby Union club. Both are only 15 minutes by car from the city centre, in an area bustling with restaurants and bars should you want to have a few beers after the match. Leeds United Football Club is based at Elland Road - only 10 minutes from the city centre.
6. Leeds is often referred to as the Knightsbridge of the North. Victoria Quarter has, to pick a few, Harvey Nichols, Louis Vuitton and Vivienne Westwood. The Corn Exchange features up and coming local designers and stores such as Mambo, Ark and Free Spirit, plus some great gift shops. The Light is located in a beautiful Grade II listed building and, as well as shops, has bars, restaurants, cafes, the Radisson SAS Hotel, a gym and a large Vue Cinema.
7. The Yorkshire Moors are on your doorstep and Leeds also has many open spaces and parks. Days out include taking a step back in time at the Royal Armouries (which is free.) York is only 40 minutes by rail where attractions include York Minster and the ever popular Jorvik Viking Centre.
