The firm has a long-standing tradition of graduate recruitment and many senior members of the firm originally joined us as graduates.
As a graduate trainee you will be a member of a project design team from the outset, and be an active, fee-earning member of the office you join. We work on many of the UKs most prestigious construction projects and with leading architectural practices. The challenges can be formidable, but a combination of formal training, mentoring, supervision and commercial experience will help you gain the skills required as your career develops and you take on more responsibility.
The Firm has a sociable culture, with a strong emphasis on mutual support. Formal and informal social and sporting activities take place, both at a local level and across the firm, from inter-office sporting challenges to an annual open sailing weekend.
Graduate Training and Structured Professional Development
We have a highly regarded Initial Professional Development (IPD) scheme for graduate engineers pursuing Chartered Engineer status under the Engineering Council's latest UK-SPEC (UK Standard for professional Engineering Competence) criteria. This scheme provides a structured approach to development and is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
Project-based learning is guided by experienced colleagues and supplemented with a two-year lecture programme on technical, management and communication subjects. It includes an annual residential graduate conference, construction site experience and industrial visits. We continually look for new initiatives and have recently established an exchange programme with one of the UKs leading architectural practices.
